Valentine’s Day Dinner

I told you of the family dinners I plan each Valentines Day. Just like many others before this, it was great. God has blessed me with a wonderful family.

I decorated the house with red and pink hearts, with balloons around. These were all put on walls and other surfaces in the living room and kitchen. the table had a white table-cloth on it with silk red rose petals and paper lace placemats. There were 6 votive candles set around the table, with a few “real” roses laid on the table. I rolled the silverware in nice paper white napkins with a silk red bud twisted around them for napkin rings.

As for our dinner I served it restaurant style to them. We had a tomato and mozzarella salad on a bed of spinach leaves with a dollop of pesto sauce. Salad and dinner was served with a homemade herb bread, with olive oil and cracked pepper or butter if you prefered, I do. Main course was homemade pasta with a special cream sauce with bacon, chicken and shrimp and topped with mozzarella and baked in individual dishes until bubbly. It was served with lemon roasted asparagus, served with iced tea. The dessert plate had cream cheese brownies (cut into heart shapes) alongside fanned strawberries. Beside that stood a shot glass with canoli cream with grated chocolate and topped with crushed cinnamon graham crackers, with a side drink of  club soda with maraschino cherries and a bit of the juice to slightly sweeten the soda.

Well, my kids loved it and we all retreated to the living room to visit and enjoy one another’s company before they went to their own homes.

Yes God has blessed us greatly. One day we are going to sit at a great banqueting table to celebrate the marriage of the Lord Jesus and His Bride to be.

Rev. 19:6-9  And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. [7] Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. [8] And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. [9] And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
