What is it you treasure most?

English: An anxious person

Here is a great reminder of  our heart conditions. We just celebrated the birth of Christ. We gave gifts to one another. Some of us were excited about what we receives, others were disappointed, while some receive nothing material…no gifts did they receive. But they did!

We (all man-kind) have the greatest gift one could ever have. Do we cherish this gift above all others? This gift is Christ the Lord, our Saviour.

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God.” It is “where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” So, “consider” what you allow to consume your thoughts.

Matthew 6:19-34 (Amplified Bible)
19 Do not gather and heap up and store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust and worm consume and destroy, and where thieves break through and steal. 20 But gather and heap up and store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust nor worm consume and destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal; 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is sound, your entire body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is unsound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the very light in you [your conscience] is darkened, how dense is that darkness! 24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (deceitful riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in). 25 Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 And who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the span of his life? 28 And why should you be anxious about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field and learn thoroughly how they grow; they neither toil nor spin. 29 Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more surely clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear? 32 For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all. 33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. 34 So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.

Are you trusting the Lord in the midst of adversity?

Proverbs 3:5-7  (King James Version)
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

This is from the Message: Proverbs 3:5-7  5 Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. 6 Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. 7 Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil!

We have been given much instruction through Scripture concerning our thoughts. A life style; a hearts desire; joy to bitterness and deception; ALL CHOICES, start by one single thought. Guard your thought life.

Colossians 3:2  (Amplifed Bible)
2 And set (to fix; to interest oneself in) your minds and keep (guard) them set on what is above (the higher things, the heavenlies), not on the things that are on the earth.

There is joy in the Lord in the midst of all lifes situations. Rejoice in Him!

Nehemiah 8:10  (King James Version)
10…. for the joy of the Lord is your strength (rock, fortress, defence, {everything}).

Lord bless you and we will visit again shortly. Remember it is by and through His grace we have hope in Christ Jesus.

  2. Well said pinchofgrace. God should be our greatest treasure. He delivered us out of the hands of Pharaoh. And He provided for us when we were in the wilderness. Yet, we treasure graven images. Thanks for sharing

It is sad that only a few think of Him once or twice a year as a treasure. He is our greatest treasure each and everyday. Without Him I would not want think of imagining where or what I’d be.
