Okay, I have heard a few of your comments on yesterday’s post, “Are you following the Cloud or under one?”
Someone responded, “Both,” others responded with “What difference does it make?,” “It is God‘s business what I do.,” “Who is to say what I do is right or wrong?,” there were a few comments similar to these.
Good questions and thoughts. I would like to discuss one particularly as I go ahead here. But first a few other words first.
Are you ready to chat a spell here I have a lot to say today. I trust you are with me here. 🙂
WHEN I MAKE THE COMMENT OF “WE”, I AM REFERING TO MYSELF MORE THAN TO YOU. I need to hear what I am speaking and writing about and let it sink to the the very depths of my whole being.
Yes we have all felt like this at one time or another. God cares where you are, this is what matters and this is what the difference is…the Lord cares where we are, what we feel and where we are at in our lives. Why? He simply loves us beyond measure.
I liked the comment that one person made, “BOTH.” Here is why. It was an honest word.
Sad to say we all find ourselves under a cloud of self, expectations, duty and oppression; while also wanting to follow the leading of the Cloud, the Holy Spirit of God.
There is not a happy medium. We will give into one or the other….I’m a good one to preach this, but this is what the Lord is wanting me to see, learn and choose.
We all struggle to one degree to another with this, some just show it and express it more than others; while others are able to keep their emotions in check and I believe this is a great gift of God for them…many of us struggle with this in our lives….Keeping things to ourselves and running to the Lord and having Him keep things in check for us; while many of us are out there and in your faces and let it all hang out…as a matter of speaking…..
I am grateful for the One we are able to lean on. Jesus knows our frailties and heart. We need to be careful to where we stand, watching what we think we see or may know what we see in others and slow to judge…you never know…the ones sitting in the judges seat may have lives in a shambles or hurting also…It is easier to pick others apart then to check ones self….
Many times when we struggle with this issue of Following the Leading of the Cloud of the Holy Spirit or Being Under a Cloud of the ‘Cares of this Life’ are weighed in a balance of what we think others are saying or we think they are saying or thinking about us. THIS IS DANGEROUS GROUND FOR US.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
There is much the Lord wants us to learn as we seem to struggle. If we struggle it is usually because we are struggling against what He is wanting to show us or cause us to grow in Him by getting rid of the junk that needs not to be in our lives, so we may honor and give glory to Him.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Our issues and problems are not with people or the Lord Jesus, but with the spiritual ‘realm’ that desires to destroy us and keep us away from the life the Lord has for us.
So many times we want to blame our situations on others and their behavior, and it is so easy to do. We don’t like what we see in ourselves so we point fingers at others to justify our actions.
Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
What are other Gods? They are ANYTHING we put up in front of the Lord and see it and believe it more than we do in Christ.
Job 15:31 (Amplified Bible)
Let him not deceive himself and trust in vanity (emptiness, falseness, and futility), for these shall be his recompense [for such living].
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. 3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. 4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5 For every man shall bear his own burden. 6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
There is a lot here in these verse in Galatians. A few things I’d like to key in on.
- We are to help others, and not tear them down because of their faults. James 5:15 (If you can read this in the Amplified.)
- If we chose leave people alone and say something to the effect of, “They need to get over this and find the Lord for themselves.” (This is VERY true in many cases…but, be careful.) But this attitude also can lead to deception to those who think like this. Romans 12:3
- We need to step up to the plate and intercede on the behalf of others. As Ezekiel asked, “Is there anyone to stand in the gap?” Ezekiel 22:30
- Speak truth to those in love. Ephesians 4:15
- What WE do, how we feel, how we react to OUR situations, we do reap what we sow. Our actions will have its own consequences and rewards. Whatever it is we extend and allow ourselves to do, that is what we will receive. Romans 14:1; Romans 15:7
- We give ourselves to the flesh or we give ourselves to the Spirit. Galatians 5:13-25
- When we do what we know that is right and we still suffer (had difficulties and troubles), DO NOT GIVE UP. God will see to it that in the right time and place we will see the end result and it will be good and perfect according to His honor and glory, not ours. Hebrews 13:21; 2 Peter 3:18
There could be so much more said here, but perhaps another time. 🙂
We also need to stop worrying so much about what others think of us and be concerned about what Jesus has to say. Proverbs 21:1, 2; Romans 8:31; Psalm 56:8-13
We (all of us) need to be careful to how we perceive the actions and thoughts of others. We truly do not know the heart of man, that is God’s responsiblity and privilege.
You may say, “but we can see the fruit of their lives.” That is still God’s job and responsiblity. John 15:1-8; Romans 2:16; Psalm 96:13
So am I saying we should not judge others, no. What I am saying is we need to be extremely careful. We are God’s people and many times when we are judging others we are judging the Almighty and what He is doing with others, in other and for others.
Here are a few scriptures concerning God as our Judge.
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; 3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: 4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. 5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: 38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. 39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? 40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. 41 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. 2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. 3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. 11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. 12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
…Yes there are scriptures that tell us we are to judge one another, but we need to be careful in this…We need to be careful what we are judging, we may not know all we think we know about another.
WOW!! I have been quite wordy in this post. I have laid out many scriptures for you also, so you didn’t have to look them up, bu tI do encourage you to look these up to help keep me in check.
Lord bless you and trust for his grace to carry you each day as you walk in the joy of His hope.
Many blessings with love (<3) and prayers (/\’s),
