Abiding in unity with Jesus and one another.

Psalms 133:1-3 (KJV)
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; 3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Take a close look at these flowers. Do you see tiny droplets of water on the bright orange petals? These flowers had a sweet, pleasant aroma to them. They were well taken care of. These flowers shared the same ‘space’ with several other flowers.

If you will notice closely, they are the flowers on the bottom of all these beautiful bunch. You can not see the droplets of water on them in this photo, but it was taken before the first one and just a moment later the top photo was taken, an up-close pictures to show the water droplets. So what is my point. As I read the above scripture, I thought of this picture I had taken a month ago on vacation. Think about what the verse are saying. We as Christians ought to live together in unity, in unison, without quarrel and contention. I ask myself, “do we live as one?” As for myself I would have to say for the biggest part we Christians do not. Take a closer look at these flowers if you will. They are beautiful and well kept. SomeOne tends to them every day. This Person makes sure they get plenty of water, nutrients, Sonlight and this One also makes sure there are not any parasites or other ugly things that could hinder their growth. These flowers do not fight to see which blooms out first or which cluster has more buds for a larger cluster of flowers. Do you see them give each blossom or cluster dirty looks or wants something different then they have now. they don’t have a care in the ‘world.’ Why? They are being well cared for. They have accepted the blessings they are receiving. They are enjoying the life where they have been planted. They have dead leaves and old blossoms pulled from them from time to time. I am sure if the plant could talk it would say, “That hurt!” But they don’t though.  You are thinking, “Well crazy lady they are just a dumb plant they have no feelings.” We are nothing any different. But these plants are being blessed. “Blessed!” you squeal. I can here you through the internet connection. Yes blessed. They are working in unity as God would have it for them. They were planted by a Gardner. They have been cared for by the same Gardner and are continuing to be blessed by that same Gardner. If we would work as hard or should I say as easily as these flowers, wow, how blessed we would be, by just abiding and resting in the truth of the Gardener. I have a dear friend who has been teach on “Abiding in Jesus” and what that means. I am not going to go into that, but here lies the truth of dwelling in unity with fellow Christians and the blessing of it. Abiding in Christ. One can not live in unity with their fellow Christian brothers and sisters without first knowing Jesus and giving Him first place in your life. (See John 15:1-17) God sees our works, just as the Gardener sees how the plant grows. If the plant starts to die or not produce the buds and blossoms to flower He cuts away parts of it so it can produce buds, blossoms and flower out beautifully and full of life and brilliant color. These pieces that are pulled or cut off and burned because they are of no use to the plant. (See 2 Corinthians 3:11-15) It is our works that will burn if they do not produce what the Gardener is desiring. If these pieces are not removed then the rest of the plant will wither and die all together. I want to encourage you to seek the benefit of fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord. This will bring blessing to you and all around you. Don’t do this for your benifit…it will not work, that is the flesh hard at work and it will be cut off and burned. This has to come from a heart that desires to please the Lord Jesus and their fellow brother and sister in Christ.   As we seek to please and do the will of God, we will be blessed beyond measure; to overflowing. This is what the scripture is telling us about the ointment that flows from head to toe; as it were flowing from Arron’s beard to the bottom of his clothing and the dew of the mountain that over flow in abundance and fresh as the dew of the morning….awwwwe…this is God’s blessing; from a heart that desires to do the will of God which is through an obedient heart. An obedient heart will be a beautiful and brilliant blossoming life….one that produces a great garden with plenty of wonderful fruit…as John says.
