Guard Your Heart – It Is A Choice Away – Your Choice

We have a choice each day. Here is a good example.

We are to guard our hearts with all  diligence; we are to put a hedge or posts around our heart, like a prison fence. So that the cares of this life do not overtake us. The enemy, satan, uses lifes situations to distract and overwhelm us.

So what do we do? Here area few Scriptures I trust that will encourage and help you.

1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)
Be sober (watchful, alert, not distracted as with wine or any other thing or substance that will lure our thoughts from the Lord), be vigilant (to keep awake, watchful) ;because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

The enemy will be as vicious as he can an as destructive as he can. He wants you defeated in any way possible. Don’t give him that chance…for half of a second, he will take advantage of that time. When you sence any thought, fear, ‘distraction’ that is devouring your heart, stand against it. (This will be explained in a few verses below.)

We need to learn to know w we are in Christ. We are to walk in the provision He has made for us and walk in the flesh and lean on, rely on or be influenced by the world, our flesh; how we once would have tried to resolve our “problems”.

Once again Scripture tells us how to do this. We can always go back and look at the Word of God, it will instruct us. The Word of God is our map of life, the greatest instruction manual there is….use it, believe it fr it is the Living Word of God Himself

 Ephesians 4:22-32  (Amplified Bible)
Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old unrenewed self] (you and I are renewed through the salvation and blood of the Lamb,Christ Jesus, now we need to life in this renewed life.) which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion; 23 And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude], (Read – Romans 12:1-2)  24 And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God‘s image, (You put on fresh clothes each day, put on Christ daily, pray, read His Word, study it, believe it, do it. This is what will help yu become ‘Godlike.’)  [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness. 25 Therefore, rejecting all falsity and being done now with it, let everyone express the truth (Do NOT lie or stretch the truth) with his neighbor (to anyone), for we are all parts of one body and members one of another. 26 When angry, do not sin; do not ever let your wrath (your exasperation, your fury or indignation) last until the sun goes down (I have always been taught “get over it and yourself quickly, because this just gives the enemy a foothold…just enugh to get in the door of your heart and thought process, I believe it and have experience it.) 27 Leave no [such] room or foothold for the devil [give no opportunity to him]. 28 Let the thief steal no more, but rather let him be industrious, making an honest living with his own hands, so that he may be able to give to those in need. 29 Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [do not offend or vex or sadden Him], by Whom you were sealed (marked, branded as God’s own, secured) for the day of redemption (of final deliverance through Christ from evil and the consequences of sin). 31 Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind). (Do NOT do ANY THING that would dishonor the Lord Jesus, His Word or your self – it is all a choice.) 32 And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you.

I trust you got what Paul is saying here. Turn loose of ALL things that will rob you from the abundant life God has promised in Christ Jesus. Paul has given us a blue print, a layout  in how to do this. Use it, believe it and do it…put it into real life practice.

This last st of verses I have here today may seem to be som of the most difficult to take. BUT, they are not saying any thing any different that Paul did in Ephesians. Heres what James tells us.

 James 4:7-10  (KJV)
Submit (to subordinate; to obey :to be under obedience, obedient, put self under the authority of, subdue unto,be subject to, unto, be put in subjection to, under, submit self unto.—Strong’s Greek & Hebrew Dictionary) yourselves therefore to God. Resist (stand against, oppose, withstand….my words fight against, use the Word of God against him as Jesus did after His 40 day journey in the wilderness. The enemy can not stand or prevail against the Word of God.) the devil, and he will flee from you. (This i a promised result,) 8 Draw nigh to God, (get your self close to the Lord-go to Him) and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. (Answer to these few verses – Psalms 119:9-11 (KJV) Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.) 10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. 11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.)  10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, (Opposite of proud and haughty, be soft before the Lord.) and he shall lift you up (exalt, elevate, reward you in His time and season, for His purpose and His glory).

The raging storm begins….

…the storm may get worse before it gets better…but God IS with you and faithful to you. Don’t tell the Lord how BIG the storm is, but tell the HIM how BIG He is.

I trust you are blessed and encouraged as you have read these words. The Lord has dealt with me as the storms of life come and go He is there with me every step of the way. He is teaching me again and again to cling to Him for He is my everything. Lord bless you as you walk in His hope that is always showered by His grace upon and in you.
